The Itinerant Studio
Curated journeys through place, history, and everyday life.
Curated journeys through place, history, and everyday life.
The Itinerant Studio creates small, carefully curated journeys for those who seek depth over display, attention over accumulation, and conversation over consumption. Each programme approaches a place as a layered, living world shaped by overlapping histories and the textures of everyday life.
Places are not merely meant to be visited.
They can be read, inhabited, and interpreted.
Architecture, landscape, food, language,
ritual, memory, and social life become
connected ways of understanding where
we are.
The inaugural journey takes place in
Sri Lanka. Further programmes are planned
within India and beyond.
Journeys move through a city, region, or sequence of places. They combine historical and cultural interpretation with unhurried walks, shared meals, conversations, and time for individual exploration.
Studio Retreats are small residential programmes based in one place. A retreat may be led by Uday Chandra and/or an invited scholar, artist, editor or practitioner.
A slow journey through river towns and rituals.
The Itinerant Studio is not a tour operator. Our programmes are small, slow and curated with care. We travel to understand, not to collect; to listen, not to consume; to connect, not to check off.
